Speeding tow-truck drivers' court cases reinstated

COURT cases involving tow-truck drivers who flouted speeding laws have all been reinstated after the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality discovered that prosecutors continuously withdrew all the cases.
This move comes as the metro battles to bring to book the tow-truck drivers and vehicle owners racking up hundreds of unpaid speeding fines.
At a safety and security portfolio committee meeting yesterday, councillors wanted to know what action was being taken against speeding tow-truck drivers. The Herald published a report in February which highlighted how they were driving at speeds of up to 186km/h in suburban streets where the speed limit is 60km/h and dodging the law for years. - Rochelle de Kock
