Good cricket weekend for Kingswood

Rain holds up play, adds challenge for bowlers

The Kingswood first cricket team enjoyed more success this weekend, defeating Woodridge and Penguins, despite some frustrating times caused by the rain. Kingswood and Woodridge eventually completed their fixture at Woodridge after lengthy disruptions. Woodridge won the toss on a rain-soaked day and chose to bat.

Kingswood struggled to make early inroads, but tight bowling kept control of the scoring.

With conditions clearly suiting the bowling attack, Woodridge did not manage to pick up any momentum, losing their first wicket in the 12th over with the total on 11.

Wickets fell at regular intervals, despite Ethan Windvogel batting superbly for 38. Dylan Ryan (28) also offered dogged tenacity but eventually Woodridge were bowled out for 114. Jeremy Ives was the leading wicket-taker with 4/34, while Tony Pedro (2/20) and Brad Haller (2/17) gave nothing away.
