Madibaz defeat CUT in error-ridden match

NMMU’s convincing home victory marred by team’s five yellow cards

The Madibaz got back on the winning track when they beat the Central University of Technology (CUT) 34-13 in an error-ridden Varsity Cup match marred by six yellow cards at the NMMU campus last night.

Five of the cards were dished out to errant Madibaz players and one to CUT in an ill-disciplined clash that will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

After building a healthy 26-0 after 48 minutes, the Madibaz were dealt a triple blow when they had three players yellow-carded in a matter of minutes. They were forced to defend with only 12 men.

The players sinbinned were skipper CJ Velleman, Arno Eberson and Ivan-John du Preez during a frenzied period of play.
