Seven-a-side soccer tourney

MISSIONVALE will host a seven-a-side soccer tournament consisting of 16 teams affiliated to the Safa Nelson Mandela Bay Football Association tomorrow, starting at 11am.

The event will be played at an open field behind Kerk Street in Missionvale.

Organiser Zolani Swelindayo said the aim of the tournament was to support the campaign against women and children abuse, and also to inspire young people to become more involved in sport.

"It is the first year this tournament is taking place, and I'm hoping to make it an annual event.

"I wanted to make a positive difference in my community by organising this tournament."

Swelindayo said all the teams had confirmed their participation.

The teams will be named after African countries to promote unity through soccer.
