Letter: More pressing issues than race

THE PAC still advocates one race and that is a human race – a phrase coined by Robert Sobukwe. He espoused the concept of non-racialism which others decried, but have come to understand and use it.

There is no racism but a class struggle which politicians and academics misinterpret. We have people who have illegally benefitted from previous racist political arrangements.

The national group primarily accused of being “racist” is the very group which dominates the economic layers. The former oppressors and colonial masters have some sense of superiority over their subjects and they have not succumbed to the pseudo new democratic order.

The exclusive solution to addressing such a crisis is to distribute the wealth of the country equitably. The perpetrators of such crimes are mostly from one national group and the same group dominating the economy.

The expression asserted by Judge Mabel Jansen is a reflection of a wider societal spectrum. This is what our people experience from abusive farmers, supervisors and employers who feel they are superior to other groups.

It’s other political parties and lobby groups which become relevant when this kind of behaviour erupts. Serious issues and problems in our communities are suspended and we entertain these petty issue to which we have offered the solution.

Distribute wealth to the people equitably and you will psychologically address the inferiority-superiority complex. We appeal to organisations to stop dwelling on things that they are not supposed to and rather leave this issue in the hands of the Judicial Services Commission’s judicial conduct committee.

We have more pivotal issues like the Vuwani saga, leaders disregarding the constitution, poverty, HIV/Aids, landlessness, unemployment and not this petty issue. We know where its solution lies.

This is also an indication that the TRC was just a smokescreen and in a way ineffective. It shows that we did not iron out differences between the dispossessor and dispossessed.
