Johnson impresses with approach

IT IS surely impossible to spend a day watching Mitchell Johnson without becoming a fan – unless of course you need to bat against him. It's startling to see the intimidating monster in the middle become the friendly, smiling man fielding at the boundary. He always has time to sign autographs – even on day three at St George's Park when things were not going Australia's way. He responded with a smile to good-natured heckling on day one, and comes across as a really pleasant man, and a wonderful cricketer. As my son grows older, I will point to Johnson's play-hard-without-being-obnoxious way as a way to play the game, whatever he chooses to play. Barry de Klerk, Port Elizabeth
