Hate fuels Zuma critics

I WRITE this with the fear of appearing ridiculous to some and also being accused as a Zuma loyalist by others.

But the truth of the matter is that there is a tragedy of infinite hatred directed at President Jacob Zuma.

And the truth must be told that there are people who hate the president so much that in their attempts to make him look stupid, it is they who end up being incoherent.

The attacks on the president have ceased to be reasonable and even principled. In their eyes, there is nothing that the man does right.

Anything he says or does is twisted, vulgarised and demonised.

Even the right things he does or says, which we compliment others for doing, are made to appear draconian.

The hatred for the president has eroded our collective ability as a people to be fair, principled and honest.

It's almost as if to prove how revolutionary you are, you must engage in this politics of absolutism, where a person is either an absolute saint or an absolute sinner.

And what is so shameful is that you even find young people, who are young enough to be the president's children or grandchildren, swearing at the president to prove their infinite hatred.

At what point did we as a society arrive at a point where it is right to say an adult must "go to hell!", on the basis that we differ with him politically, I humbly ask?
