Excitement as IPTS bus goes for a spin

One of Nelson Mandela Bay's IPTS buses was taken for a spin around Port Elizabeth’s Cleary Park yesterday, creating excitement among taxi operators who cannot wait for them to finally hit the road. With only months to go before the city officially launches the long-awaited bus project, the municipality’s head of transport, councillor Rano Kayser, along with other councillors, wanted to see if the buses were still in good working condition. Earlier this week, Kayser said they were hoping to officially start the project in April next year, with the Cleary Park route targeted first for the roll-out. The only time that the 24 articulated buses and one conventional bus were used was during the 2010 Soccer World Cup and in 2013 during the pilot phase.
