Alleged gang member shot dead

An alleged gang member was shot dead and another injured on Sunday night (19/06/16).

Police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidu said Sean Berry, 30, and his friend were standing outside Berry’s parent’s house in Barends Street, Salt Lake, when three males approached them at about 20.45pm on Sunday.

“The suspects started shooting at the duo. Berry sustained multiple gunshots to his body while the other victim [34 years] was shot twice. Berry died while on the way to hospital,” she said.

“The suspects fled on foot. The incident is gang related. Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder.”
