Robbers threaten PE householders

HOUSE robbers struck three homes in Port Elizabeth this weekend, robbing residents of cellphones, electronics and other valuable items.

In one incident, a 30-year-old woman was woken up in her Castle Hill home, in Central, at around 2.30am, when two men entered her house through a broken bathroom window.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Alwin Labans said it was unclear if the men were armed or not, but they threatened the homeowner’s life.

They fled with a cellphone, laptop and various items of clothing.

Also during the early hours of Saturday, a 21-year-old woman from Summestrand woke up to find two men in her Bulbring Street home.

After threatening the woman, they fled the house with her cellphone.

A third incident on Saturday night saw a man from Dlamini Street, Walmer Township, robbed of a television.

According to Labans, the complainant, 51, was watching television when three armed men, one with a rifle and two with pistols, came into the house.
