POLICE in Nelson Mandela Bay have warned bank users and businesses to beware of white collar crime ahead of the festive season.

The alert comes after police noted a spike in fraud and scams.

Police warned yesterday that criminals pick up the pace between November and January each year.

The commercial branch revealed that a series of new crime trends across the Bay had spiked, including card swapping and scams involving government business tenders.

There are about 80 fraud and scam cases which run into million of rands in the metro alone, according to police.
