Flabba memorial in JHB

Bouquets and wreaths were being placed on stage at the memorial service of musician Nkululeko Habedi, known as Flabba, at the Bassline, in Newtown, Johannesburg on Wednesday.

Shortly before noon, people were allowed into the area and fans filled up the hall quickly as Habedi's music played over the speakers.

There were no family members, guests of honour, or celebrities.

The 38-year-old musician was stabbed in the heart in his Alexandra home in the early hours of Monday. The police were called to Habedi's Alexandra home at 4am and arrested his girlfriend, Sindisiwe Manqele, 26.

Fans were asked to move away from an area reserved for Habedi's family. Photos of the musician were displayed on the stage.

Manqele appeared in the Alexandra Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, on a charge of murder.

The case was postponed to March 16.
