School to celebrate 135 years

ONE of the oldest and most well-knownschools in Transkei, St John's College, will host a series of events this year to celebrate its 135th anniversary.
The school was opened in 1879 by missionary Bishop Henry Callaway.
The list of notable past pupils includes the current Eastern Cape premier Phumulo Masualle, ex-president Thabo Mbeki, Billion Group chief executive Sisa Ngebulana, exminister Mandisi Mpahlwa, UN representative Baso Sangqu and former National Prosecuting Authority head Advocate Vusi Pikoli.
