Nite Bowls final

KENRICH Motors had a resounding win to bag 1st prize in the Kowie Bowling Club's Night Bowls competition last Friday night.

Kenrich Motors played against Jawitz Properties for the top spot. Weather conditions for the final round were perfect, according to club captain Mike Tomlinson.

Playing for third place, Quarts - Kenny's Pub managed to sneak ahead of Kowie Toyota in the last few ends, while Coates Construction got the better of the Round Tablers for fifth position.

BUCO finished the competition in seventh place after defeating the Lions, who rounded off the prize list in eighth position.

All 12 participants received a thank you present, or an "appearance present” of beer and chocolates.

"We thank Pick n Pay supermarket for their very generous sponsorship of this competition that helped make it a very successful project,” said Tomlinson.

"There was a wonderful atmosphere on the banks as spectators supported their teams on the greens.

The club's C green proved to be an ideal playground for the kids, as it was covered in sand as a result of the heavy rains in October.

Pick n Pay's Russell Shelton and his wife Brenda handed out the prizes, and prize giving was followed by a delicious finger supper supplied by Pick n Pay.

The generous winners handed back the prize money and asked that it be donated to the Port Alfred SPCA, which the club will see to.

The Kenrich manager then bought a round of drinks for all the participants, which was much appreciated. This was followed by Coates Construction donating their prize money to Damant Lodge.

The roll-over competition which was done weekly and not won, as it can only have one outright winner, had carried over from week one of the competition.

With the pot standing at almost R300, it went to a second draw before the Lions Club were the only team to have the shot profit for the four ends of 1, and were declared the winners.

"We thank all our participating teams, spectators and especially our sponsors and hope to see them back again next year at the same time,” said Tomlinson.
