Beetge whisked away on arrival

DRUG mule Tessa Beetge's aunt travelled from Queenstown to meet her niece who spent six years in a Brazilian jail, but was instead used as a "decoy" for media attention.

With a bunch of yellow roses to welcome back her niece, Marie Olsen waited at OR Tambo International Airport for the moment she could hug Beetge.

The yellow roses were Beetge's mother, Marie Swanepoel's, favourite. Swanepoel lived to fight for Beetge's freedom and brought down a drug-trafficking ring linked to Cheryl Cwele, former wife of State Security Minister Siyabonga Cwele. - Katharine Child
