Zahara shares success with Herald, readers

AWARD-winning performer Zahara popped into Port Elizabeth yesterday to present The Herald with her double platinum award by Universal Music SA and TS Records.

She was accompanied by producer Robbie Malinga.

The double platinum award was made for sales in excess of 80000 for her second album, Phendula.

"We are celebrating Zahara's album which has gone double platinum. We have decided to present The Herald with the platinum disc. This is our way of showing appreciation for the good work done by the newspaper," Malinga said.

Zahara, with a string of awards to her name, has once again been nominated in this year's South African Music Awards (Samas).

"This goes to show that God is great and people still love Zahara. I feel truly blessed that my second offering [Phendula] is doing so well," she said.

"We are not only giving this platinum disc to the newspaper but also to the people who are buying the paper. We will be going around the country to thank our fans."

The Phendula tour was cancelled last year when former president Nelson Mandela died, but Zahara promised yesterday they would bring it to Port Elizabeth. "We are working on the dates." -
