Cable thieves leave two NGOs hamstrung by lack of telephones

TWO Forest Hill non-government organisations are struggling to help their victims as they have been without telephone lines for two months. Maranatha Child Care Centre and Bet Sheekoom Victims Support Centre said the problem was caused by cable theft. Maranatha, which was established in 2002, addresses the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs of Port Elizabeth's homeless and unemployed, challenging individuals to take responsibility for their lives and become self-sustaining. Bet Sheekoom director Gary Koekemoer said having no telephones lines was a crisis for both of the centres. -
