Three caught red-handed

SWIFT action from the Port Elizabeth K9 unit netted three suspects yesterday still inside the house they had broken into.

Police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said members of the unit had responded to information about suspicious activity at a house in Silveroak Street, Algoa Park.

"As officers arrived, they managed to catch one suspect as he was trying to flee. Officers and their dogs managed to gain entry and arrest the two inside as well."

The men inside were armed with a knife and sharpened wooden object, and valuables from inside the house had been piled near the front door. It appeared as if they forced the door open to enter the house. - Riaan Marais
