Suspect arrested for murder of detective

One of the men believed to have shot dead a Port Elizabeth detective earlier in 2018 has been arrested.
Sizwe Siviwe Moshara, 26, appeared in the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for the murder of Detective Constable Bonga Ngcingwana, 35, in June.
Hawks spokesperson Captain Anelisa Feni said Moshara was arrested by the Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit on Tuesday after he was tracked to a Port Elizabeth coffee shop.
Feni said he would remain in custody until December 21, when he is due to appear again for a formal bail application.
The arrest comes after Ngcingwana, a detective attached to the Mount Road police station, was gunned down in New Brighton on June 12.
Ngcingwana and another detective were following up leads on an unrelated case when they spotted a Silver Toyota Etios swerving in and out of traffic in Missionvale.
The detectives followed the vehicle and it stopped in the middle of the road and people jumped out while shooting at the detectives.
Ngcingwana was shot in the stomach and died shortly afterwards, while his partner, a 37-year-old sergeant, was unharmed.
Sources said the Etios was fitted with false licence plates registered to a car in Gauteng.
