Three Port Elizabeth teens linked to murder of policeman

Three Port Elizabeth teenagers, including two minors, were arrested for allegedly killing a VIP protection unit police official in New Brighton earlier in 2018.
Loyiso Ovayo Matayi,18, and a 17- and 16-year-old who cannot be named as they are minors – were arrested in New Brighton over the past week.
All three were arrested for the murder of police captain Wiseman Tyibilika, 50.
Tyibilika was found dead in the driver’s seat of an unmarked Hyundai Elantra police car in Tshiwula Street at about 6am on October 23.
He had been shot three times in the chest and multiple bullet casings were found scattered around the car – one as far as 20m away.
Five 9mm cartridges were found at the scene – four outside the vehicle and one inside – all believed to be police-issue cartridges. Tyibilika’s firearm was missing from the scene.
Less than two weeks before Tyibilika’s murder, Det-Const Mthetheleli Mamana, 36, was gunned down after being forced off the road by two men in a VW Polo in Greenbushes.
On June 12, Det-Const Bonga Ngcingwana, 35, was shot dead in New Brighton.
No arrests have been made.
