Chippa crash to defeat in Port Elizabeth
Butholezwe Ncube’s goal saw Chippa United sink deeper and deeper towards the relegation zone as they down 1-0 to Amazulu in a Absa Premiership fixture, at Nelson Mandela Stadium on Friday night.
The Port Elizabeth professional soccer side has now gone six matches without a win.
This week Chippa missed out on a possible six points and had to settle for a mere point which they acquired from their goalless draw against Maritzburg United, on Tuesday night.
Despite working on the team and trying out new formations coach Eric Tinkler still has not found his mojo at the Chilli Boys camp.
The results have Chippa positioned at 14th place on the log with 10 points from 12 games.
By contrast, for Amazulu the win has seen them move away from the bottom of the log.
They are now 12th with 10 points from 12 matches.
The first real shot on goal came only 20 minutes into the game when Amazulu were given a free kick just outside the box, but Emiliano Tade’s strike went over the crossbar.
Ncube then blasted the ball the net just minutes before half time to put Usuthu in the lead.
Ruzaigh Gamilden had the ball in the goal in the 85th minute but the goal was disallowed as the assistant referee flagged for off side.
Chippa kept on pressing for an equaliser but to no avail.
