Tinkler tailors a few surprises for Bucs
Chippa United coach Eric Tinkler has a few tricks up his sleeve ahead of their Telkom Knockout fixture against Orlando Pirates on Saturday at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto, winger Thabo Rakhale says.
Rakhale was sending out an early warning to the Buccaneers, his former club, as the teams prepare to do battle.
The 28-year-old player said coach Tinkler had added a couple of new ingredients to spice up the Chilli Boys ahead of the crucial encounter against Bucs.
Rakhale is aware that playing Pirates at home will not be an easy task, but he is confident that if Chippa perform as they are told to at training, they can progress to the next stage of the competition.
Last season, the Chilli Boys beat Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane in the first round of the competition to meet Kaizer Chiefs in the quarterfinals.
Their journey in the tournament was ended by Chiefs, with Chippa going down 1-0 to the Glamour Boys at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
“We are looking positive and the plans so far have been so good,” Rakhale said. “I hope on match day we will be able to apply what we have been doing at training,” the former Polokwane City player said.
“We have changed our tactics because the ones we [were] using did not get [us] positive results, so the coach wants something new.
“Knowing him personally, he is a good planner of the opponent and from what I have seen so far in training we are going to give them a hard time.”
Rakhale, who joined Chippa early this year, said his former team would be given no special treatment.
