Guffield secure victory

THE Ukhanyo under-15 rugby team were defeated 27-14 by Guffield College last week in a spirited schools match in Alexandria.

Ukhanyo took control in the first half and led 5-0 after 15 minutes thanks to a fine try by outside centre Thembinkosi Genge, who ran through the defence to score in the corner.

Five minutes later, Guffield levelled the scores after a rolling maul, but a penalty gave Ukhanyo an 8-5 lead at half-time.

In the second half, both sides ran the ball constantly and Guffield crossed for three tries to run up a 24-8 lead.

Ukhanyo replied with two penalties to close it to 24-14, before the visitors kicked a final penalty to secure the victory.
