Alex work hard to beat Newton Tech

ALEXANDER Road deservedly beat Newton Tech 26-19 in a hard-fought schools rugby encounter at Alex at the weekend.
Newton Tech's heavier pack were dominant throughout but their backs made numerous errors.
However, what cost them the most was ill-discipline and the referee lost patience with their backchat, costing them six vital points in the second half.
Alex flyhalf Dylan Walters had a great game, scoring 21 points with two tries, three penalties and a conversion. Fullback Bonga Boni scored Alex's first try, while talented No 8 Seth Frieslaar had a good game.
Newton Tech scored tries by hooker Thulani Mjongile, flank Nyamakani Majali and fullback Armand Visser. Centre Kurt Lindoor added two conversions.
