Subs move up after close victory

DESPITE having their weekend match against Sunrise Development at the Zwide Stadium postponed, Callies continue to rule the roost in the Safa-NMB SAB league.

The Londt Park outfit are a point ahead of Subs, with Lion City a further two points behind.

Subs returned to second spot after scraping to a close 1-0 win over tailenders Motherwell Academy. Lizo Mahala netted the winner early in the first half. Lion City dropped from second to third place following their goalless draw with Fairview Rovers.

Among the also-rans, Hotspurs made the most significant gain at the weekend, moving up three spots into fourth place after thrashing Peace United 4-1.

Tomorrow Stars proved their win over title contenders Subs last week was no fluke when they beat Despatch Pioneers 2-1.

For the second time in two weeks, Camper United had to share the points when they drew 1-1 against Showvillage United.

Royal Bucks, who earned soft points last week after Hotspurs failed to turn up for their fixture, thrashed Island City 4-2

The results were: Tomorrow Stars 2 Despatch Pioneers 1, Subs 1 Motherwell Academy 1, Island City 2 Royal Bucks 4, Highland Spurs 4 Central Acemates 2, Hotspurs 4 Peace United 1, Lion City 0 Fairview Rovers 0, Showvillage United 1 Camper United 1, Callies v Sunrise Development postponed.
