Swan song for Summer Series

SUMMER sport enthusiasts in Motherwell can look forward to plenty of entertainment when the last event of the 18th annual Summer Basketball and Entertainment Series is held at the Emadramini Basketball Park at NU 5 Swartkops Valley tomorrow (1pm to 6pm).

The series has been running since December 16, when the first event was held at Kings Beach.

The programme seeks to provide a lineup of exciting entertainment for visitors and residents and aims to promote sport in general among the youth. Series coordinator Sibongile Fondini said: "This year's edition of this exciting programme has been amazingly successful.

"It has just been so pleasing to see so many people flocking to our various event venues having absolute fun. Good weather over the entire festive season has also contributed to this year's success.

"What makes this series unique is that it combines sport with arts entertainment, providing an excellent platform for many up-and- coming artists to showcase their talents."

Tomorrow's programme in Motherwell will again feature netball, a five-a-side Street Soccer Challenge, the Bay Top Schools basketball Challenge and an exhibition match involving professional basketball team PE Windbreakers against a combined Bay team.

The series is sponsored by the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and supported by Coca-Cola. It is organised and hosted by Fly Time Sport and Events.
