Erica win inaugural hockey tournament

ERICA were crowned the inaugural champions of the inter- schools hockey tournament staged by Westering Primary and held at Westering High School's new astroturf.

The tournament was held to round off the schoolgirls' hockey season and six schools participated. They were Westering Primary, Erica, Lorraine, St George's, Herbert Hurd and Summerwood.

Each school divided their squad into two and matches were played on a six-a-side basis.

The two sides from each school were then placed into an A and B section, where they played each other on a round- robin basis.

The collective points were then added to find the winning school, with Erica coming out on top.

Lorraine finished second and Westering third.

Erica were awarded a floating trophy and it is envisaged the tournament will become an annual event.
