More talking needed before indefinite strike goes ahead

SA’s biggest metalworkers union and the engineering industry need to strike a middle ground to avoid another hit on the ailing economy, already left devastated by Covid-19 and lockdowns.

This will only be possible if negotiations resume, as any impact on supply chains in the steel industry will damage engineering firms and cause disruptions in the manufacturing of vehicles, the lifeblood of the province’s economy...
