Zille may be wrong but she has a right to underrate the humanities


Helen Zille says that “humanities faculties at SA universities are the last place I would send anyone to broaden their minds”.

I am a graduate of the humanities. But I don’t feel insulted by Zille’s claim that I am closed-minded and uneducated. I feel challenged. And I would like to respond to her challenge by keeping my mind as open as I can for the next few paragraphs...
