DA advantaged over ANC

YOUR newspaper is politically biased towards DA when writing a story, especially against the ANC in the Nelson Mandela region which the DA is claiming it is going to take over in the 2016 municipal elections. The main reason we as a branch take action is the article in Monday's Herald ("Now, all eyes on 2016 poll") where you boldly publish a false results percentage.

This has an element of confusing our constituency, giving rise to a perception that the DA is really taking over Ward 41. We regard your actions therefore as having an agenda against our organisation and especially Ward 41, because our question is why choose Booysen Park voting division (VD) percentage?

Is it because the DA looks like it is leading in that VD out of other three VDs in which it lost dismally. We demand that your newspaper corrects the damage it has caused by writing misleading statements and a baseless percentage urgently.

THE Herald selected a handful of voting stations for a graphic to highlight voting shifts in Nelson Mandela Bay. The Booysen Park Hall voting station was selected because the DA secured 47.86% in this year's election.

In 2009, the party only managed to get 33.88%. Some of the other voting stations in the graphic highlighted increases for the ANC.

It is also worth mentioning that the general elections are about voting stations and not wards which are contested in the local government elections. – Michael Kimberley, The Herald news desk
