Defence pleads for leniency as state advocate asks for life term on each of five rape charges

He maintained his innocence throughout his trial but after 41 witnesses were called to testify and DNA evidence was submitted, serial child rapist Siyabulela Qunta did an about-turn under cross-examination by the state and pleaded guilty. 

At the start of his trial in November, Qunta, 41, pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape, six of kidnapping and three of common assault.  ..
