Animal rights campaigner Marizaan Ferreira says there is a water crisis at the Animal Welfare Society.
Ferreira said on Friday evening that the society's water ran out on Monday.
"It seems to be a burst pipe and they have tried to get the municipality to fix it but there is still no water."
They are taking care of about 200 dogs, cats, donkeys and horses at present so it's a very difficult situation."
The society's pound is situated on the Schoenmakerskop road, Victoria Drive.
