Body of boy, 8, found in North End Lake

The body of an eight-year-old boy was retrieved after drowning in the North End Lake opposite the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
Police spokesman, Warrant Officer, Alwin Labans said the drowning incident occurred around 14.10pm.
The boy was identified as Prinle Amposah.
"The deceased and another boy of a similar age were in the company of a 13-year old girl. It would appear the boys decided to go for a swim. However they got into trouble while in the water. The other boy managed to get out to safe," Labans said.
"Later the lifeless body of the other boy was retrieved from the water by members of the coastal rescue unit."
Labans said the father of the deceased was summoned to the scene and identified the body of his son.
The police have opened an inquest docket.
