Woman raped, robbed in home

Police are on the hunt for two suspects who broke into a house in Overbaakens on Saturday morning, where they robbed and raped a 62-year-old woman.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Jane van Rensburg said the woman was woken up by the sound of barking dogs at about 3am.
"After hearing voices outside, she phoned her neighbour and while still on the phone, the suspects kicked the kitchen door open," Janse van Rensburg said.
"The woman managed to lock herself in the garage but the garage door was forced open and she was taken back into her house.
"They demanded money and took an undisclosed amount of cash from her handbag. One suspect allegedly raped her in the bathroom." The suspects ran away when they heard the sound of the police arriving.
A cellphone, DVD player and cash was taken. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment.
Janse Van Rensburg said the suspects were armed with a knife.
A case of house robbery and rape is under investigation.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to help track down the suspects to contact Walmer detectives on 0415811496, or Crime Stop 0860010111.
