Man killed in 'hit-style' murder

A man who was sleeping in a shack behind a Stanford Road house was shot dead in what appears to be a hit-style murder on Friday morning.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said Kurt Swarts, 37, was shot three times in the upper body shortly before 5am.
“It appears that the front door of the shack was kicked in and several shots fired inside the shack. He [Swarts] was shot several times and died on the scene,” she said.
“The suspect fled on foot shortly after the murder.”
Naidu said Swarts, who was alone when he was shot, was not affiliated to any gangs.
However, the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit was helping with the murder investigation.
“At this stage the motive is unknown. Detectives are now going through the current cases to determine if he is a witness in any open cases,” she said.
Nothing appeared to be stolen.
