One killed, another injured in separate shootings

One person was killed and another injured in separate shootings in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said residents heard several shots being fired in William Slammert Drive, Bethelsdorp at about 9.40pm on Saturday.
“It was later established that Ashley Bingham, 23 years old was found lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds,” Naidu said.
“He has no gang affiliation and Bethelsdorp detectives are investigating a case of murder.”
Earlier on Saturday, a 17-year-old teenager was walking in Voisen Street, Helensvale when he was shot in both legs.
“He ran to a house in Voisen Street for assistance. The suspects is unknown and motive is yet to be determined,” Naidu said.
“The victim has no gang affiliation. A case of murder is under investigation by the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit.”
