Ipid investigating fatal shooting in Joubertina involving police


A Joubertina man was shot dead on Saturday evening - allegedly by police - after it was reported he had an unlicensed firearm.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli said Morgan Botha, 25, was killed shortly after police arrived at his house in the Rondomskrik area at about 8.30pm.
“Police shot the man during a complaint involving an unlicensed firearm on Saturday evening.
“The police were following up information of a man allegedly armed with a firearm.”
He said it was unclear at this stage what led to the shooting.
“The police opened a case of murder and a docket has been handed over to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate for investigation.”
