Two vehicles owned by Nelson Mandela Bay municipal officials were torched in Joe Slovo township on Monday.
The Toyota Rav4 and VW Golf were owned by Nelson Mandela Bay human settlements director Simiselo Nogampula and social development, education and administration assistant director Thembakazi Hlela.
At the time of the incident, the two were in a meeting with ward 43 councillor Simphiwe Tyukana discussing the relocation of residents who had been evicted.
Municipal spokesman, Mthubanzi Mniki alleged two men, who had their faces covered, were seen setting the vehicles on fire.
Hlela and Nogampula did not sustain any injuries during the incident.
Mniki said the officials had reported the incident at the KwaDwesi police station.
“The meeting did not get out of hand. This meeting was between Hlela, Nogampula and Tyukana.
