Metro employee cleared of mobile devices theft

A switchboard operator at the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality who was suspended last year in connection with the theft of new cellphones and tablets worth R327,000 has been cleared of all wrongdoing.
The devices were stolen during an armed robbery at the Lillian Diedericks Building in December 2016.
The items were meant for the then newly elected councillors.
Nandipha Isaac was accused by the metro’s security division of acting suspiciously.
They made the claim in their investigation report after viewing the CCTV footage.
Isaac was suspended in February last year, but the suspension was lifted in November.
City manager Johann Mettler said an investigation had found no prima facie evidence against Isaac.
