While we're still breathing God has a plan for us - Joost

Former Springbok Joost van der Westhuizen has moved to allay fears that he is on death's door after reports emerged earlier this month that he was on an oxygen machine "for his survival."

At the time Huisegenoot reported that Joost had been put on an oxygen machine in order to survive. Fans and famous friends rallied behind the former Bok to offer their support and calls for prayers for Joost went viral.

Joost slammed the reports and has now done an interview with the same publication explaining his health.

Joost confirmed to the magazine that he has been on an oxygen machine for about two months but did not want the news to be public because he didn't want to "spook" his daughter.

He was diagnosed with a form of MND in 2011 and the disease has ravaged his body. He was battling to breathe and doctors suggested he go on an oxygen machine to help.

The former rugby player said that the biggest difference it made was to help him sleep better.

"I'm doing well under the circumstances. I pray for everyone who is sick because with Jesus there can be miracles. While we’re still breathing God has a plan for us."
