Stevens attempted murder case postponed

The attempted murder case against Martin Stevens, 47, was postponed to September 27, when a trial date will likely be arranged.

Stevens, who is out on bail, appeared briefly in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, with the matter postponed to later this month due to the unavailability of attorney Alwyn Griebenow.

Stevens, of Algoa Park, allegedly attacked his 43-year-old estranged wife, Anna-Marie, by stabbing her several times in October last year.

About 16 years ago, Stevens shot and killed his then ex-wife, Hettie, and her male friend, Colin Rosslee, because he believed the two were having an affair.

He was acquitted of the murders after the court ruled he had suffered a psychotic episode.
