Ah Shene nabbed

Alleged gang leader arrested Al Capone-style for tax fraud

HE has always been 20 steps in front of the law, now we finally got him – Al Capone-style.”

These were the words of Advocate Warren Myburgh of the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) yesterday as a movie-like scene unfolded in front of the Adcockvale home of suspected gang leader Shaun Ah Shene.

Father-of four Ah Shene, 50, was arrested for alleged tax fraud of more than R2million following the raid on his modest family home in the morning.

By the afternoon, he had already been released on R6 000 bail after a brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court.

The case was postponed to November 30 for further investigation. -Tremaine van Aardt and Kathryn Kimberley
