Fihla slams Williams, Ndoyana
MAYOR Ben Fihla has launched a scathing attack on corporate services and communications bosses Mod Ndoyana and Roland Williams respectively, saying they are failing to do their jobs properly.
This follows several labour protests by Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality workers in recent weeks which remain unresolved, as well as the metro’s “reactive” approach to informing the public about municipal projects and challenges.
Laying into Ndoyana’s department for the postponement of crucial labour forum meetings between managers, politicians and unions, Fihla said they were not doing enough to address workers’ gripes.
“Our municipality in the past few weeks was characterised by staff protest marches as well as community protest marches in relation to various issues,” he said.
“We have on many occasions reiterated to this council that HR [human resources] issues that affect our personnel need urgent attention and intervention.
“I’m fully aware that the local labour forum breakaway attempted to deal with some of these issues but [it] remains unresolved.
“It is important . . . to indicate that in my own personal assessment we are not doing as well as we are supposed to do,” Fihla said.
