ANGRY Chatty residents barricaded two major roads in the northern areas yesterday in protest against irregularities with the RDP housing waiting list.

The residents – mostly women and children – started protesting at 5am and blocked Stanford Road and Old Uitenhage Road with stones and burning tyres.

They claimed the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality was neglecting them.

Bouga Rooiland, speaking on behalf of residents, said they had handed over a petition at a protest at City Hall last month, but there had been no feedback.

"They want to start building a multipurpose centre but that is not going to happen before they complete our houses," Rooiland said. - Yoliswa Sobuwa
