Probe into allocation of homes

A YEAR after the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality began relocating people to RDP houses in Chatty Extension it has launched a probe into housing allocation in that area after claims that the agency it used bungled the process.
A group of residents in Chatty's Marikana area claimed the Housing Development Agency (HDA) was causing confusion in the community by not sticking to the municipality's housing allocation list.
The list determines the rightful owners of specific houses.
This led to at least 160 families illegally occupying the houses from September last year, saying the HDA had swapped people's houses and allegedly sold others while the real beneficiaries were left out in the cold. - Mkhululi Ndamase
