Wash the windows!

BARELY a week after being appointed, one of the Eastern Cape's new health bosses has already ordered management at Port Elizabeth's public hospitals to have the windows washed.

The new deputy director-general for clinical services, Dr Patrick Maduna, has met Port Elizabeth doctors to discuss their concerns.

"I can confirm that Dr Maduna had a meeting with the doctors at Dora Nginza Hospital [in Zwide] and that he had ordered the windows of the Port Elizabeth hospitals be washed," health spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said.

A patient had suggested to Dr Kobus Kotze, the coordinator of the Port Elizabeth public hospitals, that the provincial Health Department call in the fire department with their high pressure hoses to try and clean the grime off the windows.

Kupelo said Maduna was recently appointed to the Health Department from the SA National Defence Force. – Estelle Ellis
