Woman tells of kidnap ordeal

A UITENHAGE woman has described her harrowing ordeal at the hands of kidnappers who threatened to kill her if her family did not come up with a R10000 ransom within a day.
The woman, who declined to be identified for fear the perpetrators would return, said she was snatched from her home on Monday evening last week while preparing a birthday dinner for her daughter, who was turning seven.
Police are investigating a kidnapping case and said it was the first case reported this year.
The woman, 40, said she had just returned from her parents' house when a white hatchback car stopped in front of her gate. Two men entered through her kitchen door and ordered her to go with them. - Zandile Mbabela
