Tattoo artist hopes to make mark in cricket

FOR 26-year-old tattoo artist Emmanuel Kohl from Schauderville, Port Elizabeth, cricket was a survival tool while growing up in a rough and tough neighbourhood.

Today that sporting survival mechanism has landed him international sporting status as he is packing his bags to board a flight to the Netherlands to play for the Sparta Cricket 1888 club in Rotterdam.

The tattooist and cricket allrounder is among four from Port Elizabeth chosen to play for Sparta. They leave on Sunday.

A nervous and excited Kohl said he was grateful that his big break had finally come. - Alvené du Plessis
