Slain student 'wanted affair'

TAKING the stand in the Port Elizabeth High Court yesterday, a Pretoria teacher accused of killing his lover, a Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University student, in 2011, told the court she had persuaded him to start the affair.

Mutshutshu Muvhango, 31, a married father of two, said he had started the relationship in December 2010 with his former pupil, Tshepiso Sithole, 18, only after she asked him to.

"She is the one who told me she wants to have an affair," he said under cross-examination yesterday. - Lee-Anne Butler
