Dagga worth R40000 found on bus

A TIP-OFF led to police finding 35kg of dagga worth about R40000 on an SA Roadlink bus at the weekend.

Police received information that drugs were being transported in luggage on the Port Elizabeth-bound bus, spokesman Captain Andre Beetge said yesterday.

The bus was pulled off on the N2 near Coega on Saturday morning.

Beetge said the arrest formed part of ongoing efforts to curb drugs entering Nelson Mandela Bay.

"We have intensified our intelligence- driven operations to ensure that we clamp down on such trafficking."

The 29-year-old Port Elizabeth man ferrying the dagga is believed to have brought it from Johannesburg.

He is due to appear in the Motherwell Magistrate's Court today. – Gareth Wilson
